things that site.conf was invented for - stuff that is specific not to the
builds you are doing but to the host machine /

perhaps support another option that *does* allow personal content to,
say, be effectively appended to one's local.conf. for

Kooen's cheeky point is worth keeping in mind though; the Yocto naming
semantics is not very helpful ;-) Specifically most of the questions
being asked on the Yocto list are about Poky, not Yocto,

I think some text needs to be added. I uncommented the SRC_URI line and I still fail building the image. The failure is related to kernel tools:
