If you know what you want to build (i.e. core-image-sato), then
telling bitbake to fetch the sources when you do have a connection
should be mostly sufficient:

$ bitbake core-image-sato -c fetchall

This will download all the sources and put them in the downloads
directory that you've configured in local.conf.

Re: Regarding offline build

David Stewart

Amit – you will definitely need an internet connection. What you downloaded is just the build tools and metadata which tells bitbake where to find the sources on the internet.

If you want to build without an internet connection, you might try downloading the build appliance. It's a larger download but contains all of the sources.

Hi,
I have quarry regarding the Yocto Project build offline.
Is that possible to build the Yocto Project with internet access?
I have download the poky-<latest>.tar.bz2, now I wants to build it independently without having internet connection.
Do I need to download any other packages also to build it offline?

Here is the build performance comparison charts for the last milestones including this build. I attached also the detailed report spreadsheet. As you can see, there is no big difference between the last milestones. The performance test data was compiled by using the data available on Performance Test wiki: https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Performance_Test

If your local.conf contains a '?=' MACHINE line

e.g.:

MACHINE ?= "qemux86"

then you can override this on the cmdline

e.g.:

MACHINE=qemuppc bitbake core-image-minimal

But if your local.conf contains a '=' MACHINE line

e.g.:

MACHINE = "qemux86"

then you can't override it on the cmdline.

Yocto Project bug trends for 2013 WW28

Michael Halstead

The trend graphs for work week 28 have been updated automatically at https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Yocto_Bug_Trend. The weighted defect density decreased from last week's 1449 to 1422, the report of wdd over the total number of bugs - (wdd plus) decreased from 4.91 to 4.90.

Screenshots of the graphs are attached for people who need a copy while offline. These are large images and you may need to open them outside of your e-mail client to see all the detail.

Assuming that you did have network connectivity, then the problem
normally is that you need to have a proxy configured in the terminal.
Exporting http_proxy=http://my-proxy/ (obviously fix that) in the
terminal should sort it.

Yocto-1.4 Build error.

Amit Kumar <Amit.Kumar@...>

Hi,

        I am facing an error to build the fresh Yocto Project default disto Poky.

I am using the following steps:

[1] Ubuntu-12.04

[2] Install the required packages.

[3] Download the latest yocto-1.4 release, poky-9.0.1.tar.bz2 [4] untar it - "tar xvjf poky-9.0.1.tar.bz2"

[5] cd poky.9.0.1

[6] source oe-init-build-env

[7] bitbake -k core-image-minimal

I am getting the following error: -

////////////////////////////////////////////////////

user@INFBA01401:~/Amitk/YOCTO/poky-dylan-9.0.1/build$ bitbake -k core-image-sato Pseudo is not present but is required, building this first before the main build

    Either fix the cause of this error or at your own risk disable the checker (see sanity.conf).

That's not something that most boards need. So it belongs in a feature
fragment that can
be activated via a custom layer (KERNEL_FEATURES), or the entire
fragment can exist in
recipe space (via a bbappend).
Though arguably it should be enabled for the generic x86 configuration.
We don't really want to do "kitchen sink" configurations. That's what
the fragments and KERNEL_FEATURES are for.

Let's just say that as many people don't have apply keyboard lying around,
as do. And if you were doing an x86 apple platform BSP, you'd add the
config at the board level, where it belongs.

Cheers,

Bruce

[meta-ivi][PATCH] eglibc: Added AF-bus patch and bbappend for eglibc_2.18.

Kristofer Hansson Aspman <kristofer.hansson-aspman@...>

The patch for eglibc_2.16 could not be applied directly to eglibc_2.18 as
libc/sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/bits/socket.h has a minor change.
